Some people don’t live in your house — but they live in your nervous system. You can’t always cut them out, but you can stop letting them drain you.

Detachment is about reclaiming your power:

  • Redefine “ignore” as choosing not to absorb their energy.

  • Use a mental mute button when their voice triggers you.

  • Set quiet boundaries — limit access without announcements.

  • Stop explaining to those who benefit from misunderstanding you.

  • Withdraw your emotional investment by starving the story, not feeding it.

  • Create reset rituals like breathing or walking to clear their residue.

  • Accept reality — they may never change, but you can.

Peace doesn’t come from fixing them. It comes from unplugging yourself. You don’t have to bleed for people who won’t even bandage.
